The BioMed Journal Club is pleased to announce the winners of the Spring 2026 Best Presentation Awards, recognizing students who delivered outstanding journal club presentations and demonstrated strong scientific communication, critical thinking, and engagement with cutting-edge biomedical research.
This spring’s awardees are:
1st Place – Best Presentation Award: Marielena Molinares Ponce
2nd Place – Best Presentation Award: Santiago Rodriguez Caballero, Nisha Khatiwada
3rd Place – Best Presentation Award: Mahenour Megahed, Tahmed Ahmed
Rising Star Award: Sela Boswell
Launched in Spring 2023, the BioMed Journal Club has continued to provide a collaborative platform for students across the College of Engineering to read, discuss, and present recent advances in biomedical engineering and related interdisciplinary fields. Through regular presentations and discussions, the club helps students strengthen their ability to critically evaluate scientific literature, communicate complex research ideas clearly, and engage with peers from diverse technical backgrounds.
We congratulate all of the Spring 2026 award winners and thank every presenter and participant for contributing to another successful season of the BioMed Journal Club.
Special thanks go to Dr. Changzhi Li, the Texas Tech University Edward E. Whitacre Jr. College of Engineering, and the Texas Tech Electrical and Computer Engineering Department for their continued support of the BioMed Journal Club and its mission to enhance student training, interdisciplinary exchange, and collaborative research culture.
